Mariners hire Goldsmith from Pawtucket

January 17, 2013

Goldsmith-AaronSportscasters Talent Agency (STAA) has learned the Seattle Mariners have hired Aaron Goldsmith to join their radio broadcast team. Goldsmith spent last season as the lead radio voice of the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox. He replaces the “broadcaster by committee” approach the Mariners have used since the passing of Dave Niehaus following the 2010 season.

Goldsmith will team with veteran Mariners voice Rick Rizzs.

Highly respected throughout minor league baseball, Goldsmith’s rise to the Major’s has been rapid. Just three seasons ago, he was the No 2 broadcaster for the Portland Sea Dogs. He spent 2011 as the Manager of Broadcasting/Media Relations for the Frisco RoughRiders before moving to Pawtucket last January. He also spent single seasons in summer collegiate and independent minor league baseball.

Goldsmith is a 2006 graduate of Principia College in Illinois.
