The Rutgers Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced today the re-naming of its broadband network from KnightVision to RVision. The online broadband network of Rutgers Athletics, RVision will feature more than 50 live events for the fall sports beginning in August.
The new name of the network incorporates the primary athletics logo – the Block R – as the centerpiece of the network name. The Block R will be featured in all graphics and logos on RVision.
RVision will broadcast more live events in the fall – over 50 – than ever before for Rutgers Athletics. Every home men’s and women’s soccer game will be streamed live – in addition to increased feature interviews and highlight packages coming for all the fall sports.
Every game will feature a 10-minute pre-game show, halftime interview with a Rutgers coach and a post-game show.
Viewers can also interact with the RVision announcers live during events by using the hashtag #RVision on Twitter.
New for RVision in 2011 will be a three-man broadcast team, featured by the return of play-by-play announcer and STAA client Danny Breslauer. Breslauer is a 2010 graduate of Rutgers and served as sports director and general manager of WRSU-FM during his time “On the Banks.” In 2009, he was tabbed a Top 10 collegiate sportscaster in the nation by Sportscasters Talent Agency of America and earned the Dick Lloyd Internship Award. In addition to his assignments at RU, he has also done play-by-play and studio work for WCTC-AM, Verizon FiOS1 and the Northeast Conference. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a double major in Journalism and media studies and psychology.
Former Rutgers wrestler Sean DeDeyn, who served as a color analyst last season on several wrestling broadcasts, moves into a full-time role as RVision’s color analyst for all events. DeDeyn graduated from Rutgers in May with a 3.34 GPA and was on the Dean’s list for 2010 – 2011. He was a member of the ninth-ranked Rutgers wrestling team, the highest ranking in school history. During his time at RU, DeDeyn was a member of the SAAC and Rutgers University Student Assembly as the representative of the Department of Athletics. In addition to his duties with RVision, DeDeyn is currently employed by Aerotek in Piscataway.
Returning to RVision in 2011-12 in a new role is Adam Helfgott as the network’s pre-game and post-game host, in addition to serving as a sideline reporter for most events. Helfgott is a 2011 graduate of Rutgers with a degree in journalism and media studies. During his time at Rutgers, Adam spent four years at WRSU-FM, serving as sports director for one year. In 2010, he was tabbed a Top 40 collegiate sportscaster in the nation by Sportscasters Talent Agency of America and earned the Dick Lloyd Internship Award. In addition to working for RVision, he currently is employed by MLB Network as a news production assistant.
Breslauer, DeDeyn and Helfgott will make their debut Friday, August 19 with the women’s soccer season-opener versus LaSalle at 7 p.m. from Yurcak Field.
